Wilmslow is due to be judged by the RHS In Bloom judges, against other like sized towns across the north west.

Having received a highly commended Silver award last year, this is the second time Wilmslow has entered the competition, which aims to encourage local communities to improve and care for their environment through imaginative planting of trees, shrubs, flowers and landscaping, as well as conservation and recycling projects.

Last year Incredible Edible Wilmslow were joined by 22 businesses from Wilmslow Business Group who tended to their premises with edible planters.

Once again the theme is edible planting but this year has seen an increase in activity, with 34 businesses taking part. Incredible Edible volunteers have also taken on six extra plots this year, with the help of residents and schools, and Wilmslow Town Council have funded the arrival of floral (non-edible) planters across the town centre.

Keith Carter Harris, of Incredible Edible said "The RHS have an Edible Britain theme to this year's In Bloom competition. Michelin Star chef Raymond Blanc, has spearheaded the competition, promoting healthy locally grown food.

"As Edible Wilmslow, in our first entry to in Bloom in 2012, we set a theme which we hope to continue with further success this year. We have increased the number of planters around town and our edible areas are looking fantastic."

He added, "The efforts made by our council and local businesses has been immense, and we have everything crossed for a good response from the judges. The whole of Wilmslow seem to be getting involved the judging date coincides with the Rotary club's scarecrow competition."

Judging will take place on 10th July 2013, starting from Dean Oaks Primary School, where judges will see the growing and learning that the children have undertaken.

After a tour around Wilmslow, the judges will meet Friends of The Carrs, Rotary, Streetscape, participating businesses, rangers, councillors and Incredible Edible Wilmslow volunteers for refreshments and photographs.
