Wilmslow Town Council continues funding citizens advice service

Citizens Advice June 2025

Wilmslow Town Council has continued its long-standing support for Citizens Advice Wilmslow.

The funding of £37,874 will help maintain the provision of free, confidential, and independent advice in Wilmslow, available four days a week.

Citizens Advice offers a drop-in session on Monday mornings at Wilmslow United Reformed Church, with face-to-face appointments available on Tuesdays at Oakenclough Family Hub, Wednesdays at the United Reformed Church, and Thursdays at Wilmslow Parish Hall. Advice is also available by telephone and email.

Wilmslow Town Council has funded Citizens Advice in Wilmslow since September 2012, helping local residents access in-person support in the town without needing to travel to Macclesfield.

Wilmslow Town Mayor, Councillor Sally Harrison, said, "Wilmslow Town Council is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with Citizens Advice in Wilmslow.

"This service empowers people with the knowledge and confidence they need to move forward—no matter who they are or what challenges they face.

"We're pleased to be able to provide funding for another year and would like to take this opportunity to thank the Wilmslow Advisors for the vital support they offer to our residents."

Will McKellar, Chief Officer of Citizens Advice Cheshire North, said, "Wilmslow Town Council are fantastic partners: they have supported the Citizens Advice in Wilmslow for almost 13 years, and without this support we would not be able to do the work we do, help the people we help and make the difference we clearly make.

"Last year, we helped 524 different people who had 1,143 separate problems and we increased local people's incomes by over £353,000.

"Wilmslow Town Council know that sometimes in life people will need some help and with this grant they are making sure it's there for them when the people of Wilmslow need it."
