Police installed the the signs on the A34 near Whitehall Bridge Roundabout in response to residents' complaints about the disruption and noise these illegal car meets cause.
The signs warned drivers that they were at risk prosecution for anti-social driving. However, they were discovered covered in black paint and completely illegal on Monday, 14th July.
Chief Inspector Zoe Boden said: "Cheshire police has been working with Cheshire East Council to tackle the issue of illegal car meets and has carried out a number of operations to target affected areas.
"Work continues to tackle the issue which residents tell us is a real problem that they want us to address because of the negative impact the car meets have on their lives.
"The signs warn those who use their vehicle in an antisocial manner that they could have their car seized if they continue with that behaviour. We also use dispersal orders and visible policing with assistance from our roads policing unit to deter antisocial driving.
"Whether the signs are there or not, antisocial behaviour will always be targeted by our officers. Those who drive in an antisocial manner will be dealt with robustly – those who break the law with their driving behaviour will also be dealt with robustly."
