Wilmslow Town Council has funded the purchase of three defibrillators for the town centre, to potentially help save lives.
These have now been installed in the Slug and Lettuce, Waitrose and Boots and staff have been trained by the North West Ambulance Service.
An automated external defibrillator is a device which is used to deliver an electric shock to a person's heart when they have suffered a cardiac arrest. These new ones are in addition to those available at St Bartholomew's Church, the leisure centre and Sainsbury's.
Town Clerk Matthew Jackson said "There was great enthusiasm from the businesses that have been trained now to host these defibrillators and we are very pleased with the positive way in which they have been adopted by these businesses."
Wilmslow Town Council approved a budget in October 2013 to fund the purchase of up to 10 defibrillators at a cost of £6,500 (+ vat).
Additionally they will be talking to local businesses to try and encourage them to purchase one of these life-saving devices for their premises as well as making enquiries about having one available at Wilmslow Station and other locations in the town centre which are accessible 24 hours a day.
