The Police & Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, John Dwyer, has been travelling around the county speaking to members of the public about the service they receive from the police.

He will be visiting Wilmslow on Monday, 23rd June.

John Dwyer said "An important part of my role is to gather people's opinions and concerns about policing so I can hold the Chief Constable to account on behalf of the public. I am keen to get out of the office to talk to people and gather their opinions.

"I want to be an accessible Commissioner and encourage people to come and say hello if they see me whilst I'm out and about."

John Dwyer will be at Sainsbury's, Alderley Edge Road from 10am − 11.30am.

Monday, mid-morning, great time to be accessible to all those who work. Whilst he's keen to 'get out of the office and gather opinions' I guess the majority who would like to give opinions can't get out of the office. I'm sure the timing is coincidental and not planned...

This would be a little like waiting for a dentist with a blunt drill........PCC’s were ‘elected’ to ensure Police forces are working efficiently... I’m not sure if the turn out in Cheshire (12 % to 14% from memory) suggests democracy has been at its most effective here, and if it is truly either 1) representative or 2) required. I know in other parts of the country the voter turn-out was significantly less. I personally believe there is a very good case to abolish the role of the PCC’s maybe that will occur after the general election. If you should have had the recent misfortune to see Ann Barnes Kent PCC on TV in action,.......Well abolishment or psychiatric detention .. were the only sensible conclusions that could have been made to put her out of her misery). The Electoral reform society acknowledged this process failed voters and candidates alike. The PCC role as I see it is not unlike ‘Minister without Portfolio’. Make it up as you go along. Our PCC JD hasn’t addressed the Travellers issue in Cheshire, from his previous official comments he appears reliant on a ‘transit site’ solution.. Will one transit site do the job?? Really ...?? Why not consider the ECHR rights of the public that voted JD in ...and stop prosecuting them for parking, motoring offences, fly tipping.. Treat everyone the same.. Think I will be cutting the hedge.......
