Former headteacher charged with further 14 counts of indecent assault

A former headteacher has been charged with further indecency offences.

Paul Colquhoun, 70, from Sale has been charged with a further 14 counts of indecent assault against four girls and four boys aged under 14, which occurred between 1977 and 1992.

The victims were aged between 6 and 11 years old at the time and the majority were pupils at St Benedict′s Catholic Primary School in Handforth, where Mr Colquhoun was headmaster.

Paul Colquhoun appeared at Macclesfield Magistrates′ Court on 5th June and was bailed to appear at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, 18th June.

Colquhoun was originally charged with nine counts of indecent assault in January 2014 and these charges are in addition to those matters.

A police spokesperson said "Cheshire Police takes all reports of sexual abuse seriously and would encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to contact police on 101.

"Specialist trained officers are available to provide support throughout the investigation."
