Wilmslow Town Council is organising and funding another Party on the Carrs event this month.

Following on from the success of the last year's Party on the Carrs, which was born out of the Golden Jubilee event of 2012, they will be holding another free community event on Sunday 22nd June.

The event will follow a similar format to last year with lots of live entertainment, community stalls and refreshments provided by local businesses.

Town Clerk Matthew Jackson said "This community event sets out to provide excellent on and off stage entertainment for the people of Wilmslow, to enable local performers from all sections of the community to share a stage with professional artists, to provide a vehicle for local groups and community organisations to promote themselves and to raise funds and to help local restaurants to promote their businesses."

Entrance to the event is free and all visitors are invited to being along a picnic and enjoy the entertainment.

Matthew added "Cheshire band 'Slinky' received great acclaim last year and return in 2014 to provide the cornerstone of the stage entertainment. This year the emphasis of the supporting cast is firmly directed towards on the talent of the Wilmslow youth.

"Wilmslow High School are very actively involved in providing four of the stage acts including the school choir, the steel band and two rock and pop bands, whilst the other end of the age spectrum is covered by the Oakmere Singers who will treat the crowd to some old favourites.

"Our highly successful Alderley and Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company have been active supporter of the event since it started and always provide one of the highlights of the day, this year their mid-afternoon slot is sure to be as fantastic as ever.

"With bouncy castles to entertain the young and a Pimms tent for the not so young it looks set for another great day on the Carrs.

"This year we are very grateful to Wilmslow Lions Club who have kindly agreed to undertake marshalling duties and to all the local organisations that have agreed to participate."

Party on the Carrs will take place from 12noon until 5pm on Sunday 22nd June. The car park at the Parish Hall will be closed to all but performers and disabled people from 9am.

The public are advised to either walk or to utilise the town centre car parks (which are free on Sundays).
