To help brighten up the town centre further and assist Wilmslow's entry into this year's RHS North West in Bloom competition, the Town Council will be offering local businesses planted hanging baskets.
They decided to utilise redundant hanging baskets, which themselves and local residents may have in their sheds and garages, by offering them to local shops and businesses.
The idea came as a result of the RHS judges comment last year that the planting needed more variance in height.
Cllr Ellie Brookes said "We thought about getting all our redundant hanging baskets, planting them and offering them to local businesses - if they would put the brackets up."
She added "I think it's a good idea, lots of people do have them in the shed and don't use them. The problem is they have to be watered individually by the businesses, they will have to look after them themselves."
The baskets will contain some flowers and some edibles, such as strawberries plants or tomato plants.
Wilmslow Town Council agreed to explore the idea further by emailing local businesses to determine whether they would be interested in having a hanging basket outside their premises this summer.

Here's what readers have had to say so far. Why not add your thoughts below.
A risk assessment, at the tax payers, or retailers cost, would have to be carried out.
Free parking and de-pedestrianisation is the way forward.
Christmas lights, flowers on signage, troughs on crossings, all do help and it's not expensive IMHO.
Bigger challenges on hand, eg Cheshire East Council core strategic plan flaws and speculative planning applications like Jones on Adlington Road.
