Get on your hire bike and go

A new bike hire scheme has launched at Wilmslow station that lets travellers complete their journey by bike.

To use the service travellers must pay an annual subscription of £10 and then daily rental charges of £3.80. The bikes can be kept for up to 72 hours at a time.

People need to register online and pay the annual subscription fee, they will then receive a Bike & Go card in the post which they hand in at the station's ticket office to collect the key to their bike.

Users must return the bike to the station where it was hired, lock it and return the key to ticket office. Late fees apply if the bikes are not returned within 72 hours.

Cllr Rod Menlove commented "Wilmslow is one of the busiest stations on the line and as such this is a welcome extra service for passengers. They now have the option of pedal power to their final destination in addition to walking or taking a bus or taxi.

"Bike & Go is a national service that operates at many stations across the north west and it will be interesting to see the level of uptake in Wilmslow."
