CycleWilmlow get back on their bikes

Bike Ride Sept 2013 along country lane

CycleWilmslow teamed up again with Transition Wilmslow to lay on a family-friendly bike ride to tie in with the Artisan Market on Saturday, 21st September.

Glorious weather ensured that a healthy turn-out of riders, aged between 1 and 60, embarked on the 8 mile ride around country lanes and paths in Wilmslow, Mobberley and Alderley Edge.

Riders were rewarded at the finish on Grove Avenue with cupcakes provided by the 20's Plenty for Wilmslow campaign group.

Rob Sawyer, CycleWilmslow Secretary, said: "We had a fantastic ride; people are surprised how many tracks and paths are suitable for cycling so close to Wilmslow. It is great to see so many younger riders joining us – despite leading the ride I was struggling to keep up with a 7-year-old in a Tour de France jersey!"

Anyone is welcome go come along to future rides visit www.cyclewilmslow.org.uk or www.transitionwilmslow.co.uk for further information.

It is a really great that we have a fairly regular wide age range cycle ride going on - it would be great to have one every month, but finding volunteers must be difficult. What about one in November at the artisan market then? I notice on a Sunday morning there are sometimes almost as many cyclists as car drivers going from Handforth to Wilmslow - perhaps we are changing something?
