Former Wilmslow High students top UK Albums Chart

An indie rock band from Wilmslow released their debut album last week which went straight to number one in the UK Albums Chart.

The 1975 consists of Matthew Healy (vocals, guitar), Adam Hann (guitar), George Daniel (drums), and Ross MacDonald (bass) who met at Wilmslow High School as teenagers and began to play music in 2002.

Their self-titled debut album was released on Monday 2nd September through Dirty Hit/Polydor and debuted at No. 1 in the UK Albums Chart on Sunday, ahead of the Nine Inch Nails and Rizzle Kicks new albums.

They band headlined at Hull's Freedom Festival on Saturday, 7th September, and continue their UK tour this month, which will be followed by a North American tour in October.

In November The 1975 will tour Europe and in January 2014 the band will perform in New Zealand and Australia before returning for some gigs in the UK and Ireland in February 2014.

Just brilliant!! we could do with a great live music venue in this town to help other young talent reach these heights. (Note emphasis on "great".. so thats better than we have at the mo).
