Last week we exclusively reported that a number of retailers are calling for Wilmslow Artisan Market to be moved to a Sunday, as it is having a negative impact on their busiest day of trading.

Following this request from retailers, a decision about the market's future is expected to be made in the next week or so.

Representatives from Cheshire East Council and Wilmslow Town Council are meeting with organisers of the market, Denise Valente and Vicky Jackson, on Wednesday 11th September to discuss the issues raised and the options going forward.

A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council, said: "We are a listening Council and are assessing all the comments and feedback we have received on all aspects of the artisan market.

"Together with representatives of Wilmslow Town Council, we will be meeting with the market organisers this week to seek a satisfactory resolution of these issues and will issue a statement at the end of the week."

Read last week's article 'Retailers call for Artisan Market to switch to Sundays' and the following comments for a selection of views concerning the proposed move.

It was our most discussed article of the week but unfortunately we had to close it to comments as we were receiving a steady stream of comments using false names or email addresses as well as having multiple accounts being set up from the same IP address all calling for the market to move to a Sunday.

Updated: Wednesday 11th September. 12.19pm.

Wilmslow Town Council will consider appointmenting independent consultants to undertake market research in assessing town centre trading patterns in respect to the Artisan Market at their meeting on Monday, 16th September. Full agenda available here.
