Wilmslow CC 1st XI 268 for 6 beat Rylands CC 1st XI 68 all out

This was an emphatic win for Wilmslow CC as they entertained Rylands CC.

The fact that it was achieved with a much changed team from last week, speaks volumes for an encouraging strength in depth for the Rectory Field outfit. What hasn't changed however is a dependence on the Rowe family, and it has to be said this is both on and off the field.

A stand of 128 in less than 20 overs by Elliot (68) and Toby (72) was the catalyst around which this impressive and very quickly accumulated score (just 35 overs) was accrued. Onto the field now and it was elder brother Tom who made the first break through, before the returning Liam Aspinall took 5 for 23 and the game was won in the 17th over.

The squirrels have a tough task to overhaul the top two Haslington and Wayfarers but in this kind of form anything is possible.

The second XI desperately need to find some runs, bowled out once again for less than 100, that is no score on a hot July Saturday with the ball coming on the bat. Rylands completed the rout, reaching the required total of 83 with the loss of 5 wickets.

The Development XI on a Sunday continue to impress, having progressed in the 20:20 last week, this week they entertained Offerton CC in the league. By all accounts the Squirrels did exceptionally well in the field to restrict the visitors to 160 all out. Imran Asraf had the best figs 3 for 30 but there were excellent contributions from Harry Newson and Jake Woodhouse. MOM Woodhouse saw the team home with 22no with 8 overs and 6 wickets to spare. Earlier Chris Arnott (24) and Andy Metzelaar (49) had provided the basis for this impressive win.
