Pavement improvements around Wilmslow station

The footpaths around the railway station have been dug up on numerous occasions in recent years to enable cables to be laid, leaving the surface an uneven patchwork.

The pavements have now been covered in a new layer using the 'slurry seal' method, which seals the surface against water penetration and covers potential trip hazards.

Rod Menlove, local ward councillor and chair of the station improvement group said "Visually, this is a dramatic improvement and since it only took a day, there was minimal disruption. Technically it does a great job of sealing and smoothing the surface and it has been used before in Wilmslow in residential areas to lasting effect. We would have done it earlier this year but it cannot be laid in very cold conditions so we had to wait for temperatures to return to normal."

The station improvement group is keen to receive any suggestions for further enhancements to the area around the station, if you have any suggestions email LAP Manager Richard Christopherson

The group are also planning to attend to the overgrown hedges in August, once the bird nesting season is over.

Have a walk along Alderley Road across from Royal London or along Knutsford Road across from Wilmslow Tyre to see how long this miserable slurry system lasts.
