Wilmslow Town Council has agreed to purchase a water bowser to facilitate the watering of flowers in the town.

The Town Council has selected Oak Nurseries to plant the existing and new planters in the town centre, however they do not have the equipment to water them as well.

The Council has therefore decided to purchase a bowser, with a trailer and necessary pumps at a cost of £3,078, which Oak Nurseries will use and store securely at their premises and the Town Council will insure.

The cost for Cheshire East Council to water the plants for three months over the summer was approximately £3000. Oak Nurseries agreed if the Town Council provided a bowser then they would do it for £2000, so the cost of the bowser will be recouped in three years.

Matthew Jackson, Town Clerk, said "The more important thing though is our belief that the maintenance and watering, the quality of which, will be considerably greater by using Oak Nurseries who clearly have a passion for making sure that when they put their name to the plants in Wilmslow that they are rightfully proud."

Everything that improves the look of the town is good. On the same subject, why is the council allowing the proliferation of adverts on the roundabout between the parish church and the bypass?
