Now in its 29th year, Wilmslow Half Marathon is one of the most popular races of its kind in the country, with places selling out months in advance.

With over 3500 entries snapped up to date, the 2013 race will be no different, with entries expected to close very early in the New Year.

In celebration of delivering this popular event for the last thirty years (one year was cancelled due to the foot and mouth outbreak), race organisers have chosen to support East Cheshire Hospice during their 25th Anniversary in 2013.

Staffed by specialist nurses, doctors and support staff, the Hospice based in Macclesfield has a 15 bed in-patient unit where patients can stay for end of life care, rehabilitation, symptom control or respite care.

On Sunday 24th March, 4,800 inspirational runners will 'take to the streets' to raise money for a range of good causes. Wilmslow resident and Coronation Street actress, Samia Ghadie, is a Patron of the Hospice and is encouraging those taking part to register for a fundraising pack.

Samia said "I'm delighted that the Wilmslow Half Marathon organisers have chosen East Cheshire Hospice as their nominated charity for 2013. It's a fantastic cause and I have personal experience of the wonderful services they provide. I'd appeal to any runners to take this chance to help raise vital funds for them, so that they can continue to provide this service to our community."

To register for your free pack and exclusive East Cheshire Hospice t-shirt, contact the fundraising team on 01625 433477, or visit www.eastcheshirehospice.org.uk.
