A retired architect from Wilmslow is giving an illustrated talk next week revealing radical proposals for improving Wilmslow Town Centre.
Prompted by the Wilmslow Vision consultation, Martin Hoyle, Secretary of the Wilmslow Trust, will be putting forward a number of ideas for both transforming and preserving elements of the town centre which he hopes will generate discussion.
Martin, of Wilcott Drive, told wilmslow.co.uk "The Trust realise that following the Vision Consultation by Cheshire East Council it is necessary to produce ideas for the preservation of important aspects of Wilmslow Town Centre, whilst, at the same time, promoting thoughts to encourage the successful regeneration of the centre as a desirable place to shop and to be in.
"If we don't, the door is left open for some vaguely inferred changes and developments, contained in sub areas of the consultation document and which it is suspected will rob Wilmslow of their family jewels in the interests of other areas of Cheshire East. All in the misguided views of regeneration from those who do not know or understand Wilmslow and its residents."
Subjects to be covered in the talk include: traffic management, a potential exhibition and market area, which could double up as an outdoor cultural area, and outdoor green areas.
Martin added "The idea of the talk is to refer to those who have an interest to come forward with comments, criticisms and ideas, we felt we had to start somewhere, before Cheshire East Council imposed their thoughts."
The Wilmslow town centre talk will take place in the main hall of Wilmslow Guild at 7.30 pm on Thursday, 29th November.
Everyone is welcome to attend, doors will open at 7pm.
