Wilmslow based cyclist Victoria Pendleton has picked up a gold medal in the velodrome with a stunning win in the Women's Keirin final.
Victoria put the huge disappointment of being disqualified in yesterday's women's team sprint race, with her teammate Jessica Varnish, behind her with today's fantastic performance.
She was very emotional as she collected her gold medal and afterwards thanked everyone who has helped her get there and said the crowd had been fantastic.
The keirin, where track cyclists sprint for victory following a speed-controlled start behind a Derby bike, has appeared in the Olympic Games for the first time this year.
Victoria Pendleton will also appear on a Gold Medal Stamp, issued by Royal Mail who are celebrating every Team GB gold medal win at the London 2012 Olympics Games through their Gold Medal stamp programme.
This is the eighth Gold Medal stamp to be issued by Royal Mail and will be on sale in over 500 Post Office branches across the UK from around lunchtime tomorrow.
Victoria, 31, will now focus on her final event of the Olympics, the individual sprint which starts on Sunday, before retiring after the Games.
Royal Mail will also paint one of its historic red post boxes gold in Victoria's hometown. Whilst Victoria lives in Wilmslow her hometown is Stotfold, Bedfordshire so Royal Mail will be painting a post box gold in Stotfold to celebrate her win.

What better candidate (& resident) could be approached to switch on the Wilmslow Christmas Lights, if she is available, and not at home in Stottford or attending the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards?
