Following the tremendous success of last year's 100th Wilmslow Show, which was attended by over 7000 people, plans are well underway for the 2012 Wilmslow Show.

A whole host of attractions have been organised for this year, including the Wild Pet Zoo, archery, Punch and Judy and chainsaw carving. A bigger fun fair is also planned this year, with a climbing wall, bungee jump and lots of carousels and rides.

There will also be music at the bandstand throughout the day and there will be performances from the Wilmslow High School Wind Band, the Werneth Youth Band and the Hazel Grove Silver Band together with the Bourbon Street Roof-Raisers jazz band.

The flower tent will host vegetable, art, flower and photographic competition entries, organised by the Alderley Edge and Wilmslow Horticultural and Rose Society. The largest number of flower club displays in years is expected, which will be complimented by displays by local flower shops, which is a new feature.

The Classic Car Show will provide a superb display, with over 350 cars already booked. The oldest dates from 1915 and organisers are expecting at least two Model T Fords. The Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club will provide a big display and there will also be an up to date display of Jaguars and Fords.

The Grand Scarecrow Finale will take place at the Wilmslow Show, where the winner of the best scarecrow competition will be announced in the Rotary Club of Wilmslow Dean's marquee.

Christine Munro, of Wilmslow Lions, said "The food and craft marquee will be packed with some great producers. This year we have concentrated on bringing in more innovative foods and crafts so there will be lots of unusual and beautiful things to buy as well as some delicious foods to taste before you buy as well. Because we have had such a lot of interest in the Show this year the crafts and foods have spilled out into the field so you will find producers in their own gazebos selling all sorts of interesting and unusual things."

Imagine fm will broadcast live from the show and a wide range of arena events are scheduled, including the ever popular Dog and Ducks, Falconry Display and the Fun Dog Show. New for this year, there will also be performances by the Wilmslow Dog Training Club Flyball Team and Jema Leopold's Performing Horses and some cheerleading and dancing groups will be performing in their own arena. They will be judged on their performances with the winning groups receiving rosettes and trophies.

Show organiser Frank McCarthy said "Last year the show ran out of parking space, but this year the provision for car parking has been doubled to cope with this year's attendance.

"Another improvement based on lessons learned from last year's record attendance is a much larger entrance with extra gates including a special one for push chairs and disabled visitors. The gates will be manned by the Wilmslow Lions, assisted by volunteers for our local Sainsburys."

The Wilmslow Show will take place at Wilmslow High School from 11am to 5pm on Sunday July 8th. Visit the Wilmslow Show website for further information.
