Lindow Moss inspires local artist

Lindow Bog 4

Wilmslow artist Heather Farr was so inspired by the unique environment of Lindow Moss that she has created six oil paintings of it to be exhibited in the town.

Heather said "I take my border terrier, Hebe, out on the Moss and have been struck by the beauty and atmosphere of the place. Since my children flew the nest I've had time to concentrate on my painting and decided to commit some Lindow Moss landscapes to canvas"

Heather hopes that her paintings will inspire people to find their own way onto the peat bog to experience its unique atmosphere along with the rich flora and fauna. She also hopes that it will raise awareness of the plight of the Moss.

Heather added "Maybe the exhibition will pique curiosity about the threats facing the area. Saltersley Common Preservation Society have a website which explains the history of the Moss and the campaign to protect it."

Heather has lived in Wilmslow for twelve years and has a studio at her home which has previously been opened to the public as part of Cheshire Open Studios. The six oil paintings will be on display at the Manley Wright, picture framing and art material supplier, on Chapel Lane from Friday, 16th March, for one month.

Painting: Bullrushes on the bog.
