A labrador drowned whilst being exercised in The Carrs at the weekend.
The incident occured on Saturday, 7th January, when the river was particularly fast-flowing and deeper in parts, due to the recent bad weather.
Animal Support Volunteers are advising local people to be aware of the dangers.
Volunteers put up posters in The Carrs after being made aware of the incident on Saturday and a representative chatted to many dog walkers as they embarked on their walks.
