Wilmslow Guild Photographers make great start to the year

Hard on the heels of their previous two wins for Sport and Action and Macro, the Wilmslow Guild Photographic Society (WGPS) again have reason to celebrate, coming 2nd in the final round of the Digital SLR User Magazine competition - Architecture. The scores for these images were added to the other 8 rounds, giving WGPS 11th place overall out of a total of 63 national clubs.

The Architecture images submitted, which can be viewed above, were: US Supreme Court by Dave Griffiths, London Bridge by Jonathan Rew-Dixon and Stoke Station, again by Dave Griffiths.

The WGPS Committee are also now busy organising a 2nd Open Morning which is being held at The Guild, 1 Bourne Street, Wilmslow on Saturday 29th January 2011 from 1030am – 12pm. All levels of experience are welcome and Members will be available to provide advice on topics such as photography composition or even just how to understand your camera manual and you can also try your hand at taking hi-key portraits using the studio lights. The activities of WGPS don't end there. "A new year brings a new season of inter-club competitions", explains Jonathan Rew-Dixon, External Competitions Secretary. "WGPS are soon to be competing against Frodsham and there's also a tri-way with Macclesfield and Hale and Altrincham camera clubs. Let's hope our entries are strong and we continue building on our success from 2010 into 2011".

Wilmslow Guild Photographic Society is for everyone who enjoys taking photographs, whether in digital or traditional film formats, from beginner to expert. New members are always welcome to join - meetings are held on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm at The Guild, 1 Bourne Street, Wilmslow.
