William John Paton, 19, from Bramhall and William Anthony Sheppard, 18, from Cheadle died in the fatal collision when their black VW Golf left the carriageway and landed in a field near the A34 Handforth bypass at it's junction with the A555.

The family of William Paton, who was driving the vehicle, have issued the following statement "Will was a very special son, brother and boyfriend who will be sorely missed by all who knew him".

Flowers and tributes have been laid by the road side where the collision occurred.

Heartfelt tributes from relatives read: "To a very special, adored Grandson - with love always, Nana xxxx" and "You'll always be with us in our hearts ...lol Auntie Sandra, Uncle Geoff, Charlotte and Max xxxx."

Others cards said "What we have loved once, will always be in our hearts" and "So so devastated that two of the greatest lads have been taken from us. So sorry. Loved you guys so much."

Two further male passengers, aged 18 or 19, had managed to free themselves and were taken to Wythenshaw hospital suffering from non life threatening injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or any pre incident driving of the black VW Golf between Parrs Wood entertainment complex and the collision scene, to contact them on 0845 458 0000.
