Hockey: Preston snatch a point

Wilmslow took a trip up the M6 to table topping Preston on Saturday expecting a hard fought game against the skilful unbeaten side.

It was the visitors, however, who gave the early pressure, but with all their possession, Wilmslow were unable to create any meaningful chances. Down the other end, Si Pickering marshalled his defence well with Man of the Match Ben James and James Bell keeping Preston at bay.

Hockey games are usually rife with goals, but it was deadlock at half time. Preston came out in the second half with renewed vigour and after a fine penalty flick save by Pickering, his goal was finally breached with an slick finish from a well worked goal.

Wilmslow were not to give up and with the final whistle blown, the Oakwood Farm outfit had their final chance with a drag flick from Westbrook. With the 'keeper beaten, it took a courageous clearance off the line from the defender to snatch a point away from Wilmslow's grasp.

Final Score: Preston Men's 2s – 1 Wilmslow Men's 1s – 0
