Entries are now open for the 27th ASICS Wilmslow Half Marathon which will take place on Sunday 27th of March 2011. Although the closing date isn't until February, runners are strongly advised to enter as early as possible because the race is always oversubscribed.

The race limit is 4800 and next year's route will be the same as in previous years, mainly on country lanes around Wilmslow and Mobberley. The Wilmslow Half Marathon will again incorporate the England Half Marathon Championship and regularly attracts some of the countries leading runners, but there will also be plenty of fun runners whose target will simply be to complete the course.

It's a huge fundraising event and this year's official charity is Macmillan Cancer Support, who have been improving the lives of people affected by cancer for 100 years now, but runners are welcome to raise money for their own favourite charity.

Malcolm Fowler, from Wilmslow Running Club which organises the race, said "Each year we find 'out of town' runners tend to enter the race early and local runners tend to leave it till the last minute when the race is getting full. If you want to be certain of a place you need to enter in the next few weeks as the race is usually full by Christmas."

To register visit the Wilmslow Half Marathon web site or the Running Bear shop in Alderley Edge.
