Guild Players welcome new members

To kick off their new season, Wilmslow Guild Players are holding a social evening aimed at new members on Friday 17th September.

Wilmslow Guild Players were formed in 1926 as an amateur theatre group based at the Wilmslow Guild, the adult education centre on Bourne Street. They perform in the main hall, which has excellent lighting and sound facilities and offers total flexibility in staging.

Productions range from comedies to classics and from mysteries to their ever-popular Christmas pantomime. They also present an annual competitive festival of one-act plays.

The social evening provides an opportunity to meet existing members and find out how you could get involved. Wilmslow Guild is an educational establishment, so the emphasis is on learning in an informal environment.

New members are always welcome irrespective of previous experience and interests. The Guild Players offer opportunities to the experienced who wish to get involved straight away and to newcomers who often like to build up their confidence and experience through gradual involvement in a friendly informal environment.

Publicity Officer Bill Beton said "We pride ourselves on the warmth of our welcome, the social activities and the opportunities and help we offer to acquire and apply skills in acting and stagecraft. So, whatever your tastes, be they acting, directing, lighting, sound, wardrobe, set design and construction, front of house, stage management, play selection and casting, or publicity, there is a place for you with the Guild Players."

The second half of the evening will be a reading and auditions for the Christmas pantomime The Dragon of Wantley, and prospective new members are very welcome to stay for that too.

The social evening will start at 7.30pm at the Wilmslow Guild on Friday September 17th. For more information, email, call 01625 520126 or visit the Wilmslow Guild Players website.
