PCT chair announces time for change

Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) today announces that Professor Pauline Ong, Chair of the PCT is leaving the post.

Pauline has been Chair of Central and Eastern Cheshire PCT since October 2006 and was previously Chair of Central Cheshire PCT between 2002 and 2006. It has come to the end of the four year term and although asked if she wished to be re-appointed, Pauline decided it was time for change.

Pauline said "It has been a privilege to serve as an NHS Chair and contribute to the health and wellbeing of the local population. I have carefully considered my options and have decided that it is best for the organisation to have a new Chair.

"I have enjoyed my time with the PCT and seen many service improvements over the past eight years. The team at the PCT and the staff of all our partner organisations continue to do fantastic job to provide care for the local population, and I would like to record my respect and admiration for their work and commitment."

Dr. Iain Purchase, the current Vice Chair will be taking over the post from 1st October 2010 until Christmas 2010.

Mike Pyrah, Chief Executive of Central and Eastern Cheshire Primary Care Trust, said "Pauline has been an inspirational leader. Under her direction there have been many significant improvements in the health of the communities we serve and in the quality and range of health services that are provided by our partners.

"We will all miss Pauline's passion for Health and Well-Being and the supportive and enthusiastic way she has undertaken the role of Chair."
