For one weekend only, contemporary artist Jo Deas will be hosting an ‘Open Art House’ at her designer home in Wilmslow, where visitors will be able to enjoy her work alongside that of Amanda Wigglesworth, Jenny Hirst, Sabine Kussmaul and Fiona Charis Carswell.

Jo Deas said "I decided to host an "Open Art House" as I thought it would be a great opportunity to invite people to come and have a look at contemporary art exhibited in a home enviroment. The house has featured in a number of interior magazines and the space is ideal for an exhibition.

"Sometimes visiting galleries can be a little daunting, the art is beautifully displayed but it is difficult for people to imagine how it look above their own fire place. It is the first time I have held an exhibition but if it is successful I will think about hosting one on a regular basis."

Jo, who has lived in Wilmslow with her husband Ben for 15 years, worked in the illustration, graphics, advertising and interior world for over 20 years but the past 15 years have been spent primarily raising her three children; Noah (15), Eli (13) and Mimi(11).

Jo explained "Now that the children are older I have got a little more time to be creative and have turned my hand to my first love of painting. The spare room has been converted into a studio and I have spent the past couple of years putting together my first collection.

"I have developed an abstract style using rich colours, textures and patterns that perfectly suit contemporary interiors. My influences include nature, found objects, packaging and typography. I use a variety of media ranging from acrylic, oil, charcoal collage and block printing to create individual works in a variety of formats. I also work closely with clients to develop bespoke artwork to compliment their interior spaces in private residences, offices, hotels and restaurants."

The ‘Open Art House’ exhibition, which is a collaboration with Bollington’s thewhitegallery, offers the opportunity to enjoy beautiful art in a beautiful setting, and perhaps even take a little bit of it away with you because all the work displayed is for sale.

Open Art House will be held on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July from 2 - 4pm at Lindow House, Lindow Lane (off Racecourse Road), Wilmslow. For more information visit Jo Deas' website.
