Following a break for a couple of years, Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival is back and organisers are hoping that local businesses, organisations and individuals will take part in this year's community event.
The Scarecrow Festival was set up in 2010 and proved a huge success with a colourful crop of over 90 scarecrows taking over the streets of Wilmslow.
Since its inauguration this event has helped to raise many thousands of pounds for charity, particularly for local charities, as well as providing fun for those spotting the straw creations hanging out on the streets, on display in shops windows, lurking in hidden corners and even positioned high on the rooftops.
Wilmslow and District Rotary will be running the Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival from Monday 23 June to Sunday 6 July.
Entry forms can be found online or by contacting [email protected]. There is no fee for entering a scarecrow (aside from your time and materials!) although entrants can raise some money for charity if they want by encouraging people to support/sponsor their scarecrow.
Rotary Secretary, Ian Bradley, said "It is great to see the Scarecrow Festival returning to Wilmslow. Hopefully those living and working in Wilmslow (and the surrounding area) will be able to enjoy it again this year."
