A Wilmslow primary school has been ranked number one for Cheshire East in the latest primary school league tables published today.

The 2023 tables, which are based on the performance of 11-year-olds in their SATS which were taken at the end of primary school, show that Ashdene Primary School has come out top with 93% of pupils meeting the expected standard compared with 62% across Cheshire East and the national average of 60%.

Additionally, 20% of the pupils achieved at a higher standard, compared with 6% across Cheshire East - which was below the national average of 8%.

Ashdene were graded well above average in reading, writing and mathematics which shows how much progress pupils at the school made between the end of key stage 1 and the end of key stage 2, compared to pupils across England who got similar results at the end of key stage 1.

Headteacher, Collette Mather is delighted to be ranked as the best school in Cheshire East based on 2023 performance data. "This remarkable recognition is a reflection of the tireless efforts of our entire school community.

"This comes at a time when Ashdene are also celebrating the huge strengths in our curriculum offer, ensuring pupils achieve highly in all subjects, not just those assessed nationally. We are exceptionally proud to be able to share our curriculum offer with other schools."
