
Passengers had to evacuate a train at Wilmslow Station on Wednesday, 22nd February, after a fire broke out.
Firefighters, police officers and Network Rail staff at 9pm where they discovered a fire in a single carriage of a train.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire Authority said "A full evacuation of the train was carried out and firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
"A thermal imaging camera was used to check for further hotspots and the carriage was dampened down and made safe."
The fire is believed to have been electrical.

BTW - does the 2nd paragraph make as much sense to you as it does to me?
- also (nearly finished), I'm no fireman but are hose reel jets (?water) not recommended for anything electrical?
I'm confident the Fire Service know about dealing with fires where electricity may be a consideration and will have taken appropriate precautions, including having the overhead lines at the station switched off.
If you want advice on the propensity for Class 175 self-immolation perhaps you should contact the train operator (that's TfW, by the way).
