Promotional Feature

From September 2022, The Junior School at Alderley Edge School for Girls will be known as Alderley Edge School for Girls Prep, educating girls aged 4 to 11 years. It will be led by Mrs Tracy Bains, Deputy Head and will be a natural progression for girls aged 2-4 years, currently attending the Nursery and Pre-School, led by Mrs Sharon Bathurst, Head of EYFS.

The decision to rebrand the Junior School to Prep School aligns with the School's strategic direction, which is to provide a challenging and stimulating learning environment in which every girl fulfils her academic potential and is prepared for life in the Senior School.

As an academically selective school, pupils at Alderley Edge School for Girls Prep benefit from an innovative curriculum, which aims to foster intellectual curiosity and a life long passion for learning. The academic curriculum is enhanced with an extensive enrichment programme which provides experience in leadership roles, opportunities to grow in confidence and skills required for a successful future and life beyond AESG.

Headmistress, Mrs Nicola Smillie, said: "Young children learn in different ways and at different rates and so we are not looking for them to be at a certain academic threshold at a certain time. Our pupils join us from schools far and wide with varying experiences of education to date. What we are looking for in a pupil is the ability and willingness to learn and their potential and sometimes hidden talents. We will find out what is remarkable about your daughter and provide her with all the opportunities to excel."

Alderley Edge School for Girls Prep's aims are to empower all girls with the ability to flourish as strong women in the 21st Century, to communicate with confidence, and take their place as global citizens. In September 2022, Mr Tristram Marchington will join the Prep School and Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Head (Pastoral). Mr Marchington will lead on all pastoral initiatives so that the school's pastoral aims are fulfilled. He will also embed the new Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education curriculum (PSHE) as well as the Relationship and Sex Education programme (RSE).

Alderley Edge School for Girls is a leading Independent school for girls age 2 to 18 set within the heart of Cheshire.
