Alderley Edge School for Girls welcomes new Headmistress

Alderley Edge School for Girls is delighted to announce that Caroline Wood will be the school's new Headmistress, starting in September 2024. Mrs Wood brings extensive educational experience in both teaching and leadership roles at AESG for 20 years, including her previous role as Deputy Head (Pastoral).

Mrs Wood is passionate about leading a school where academic excellence is delivered within a nurturing, family environment and where staff place an equal emphasis on the wellbeing of the girls and developing their individual characters.

During her 25 years in education, Mrs Wood's responsibilities have included being the school's Designated Safeguarding Lead and in charge of delivering the school's pastoral care. She prides herself in providing a pupil and family-centred school experience where everyone is supported to help them succeed. As an experienced ISI Inspector, she has a detailed understanding of delivering high quality education across the sector.

Commenting on her appointment, Caroline Wood, said, "I am absolutely thrilled to lead the school into its next quarter of a century. AESG is more than just a place of learning; you will discover it is a much-loved community where success is measured not only by the girls' outstanding academic success but by the strength of their character. We are here to guide the girls in our care as they navigate the complexities of life, providing them with the support they need to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
