Wilmslow Albion 1st Team made the short trip to Park Road to play Cheadle Town Reserves as our preparations for the new season began with our opening game in the Concorde Trophy.

Having fallen behind to an early goal our visitors then added two more to be leading 3-0 leaving the Oakmen with a lot to do to salvage something from the game. Before half time a wonderful passing move between Miles Fenton & Alex Foord saw Fenton rifle home into the bottom corner to reduce the arrears. Cheadle Town led 3-1 at half time.

After a dressing down at half time a magnificent second half performance, saw Wilmslow Albion turn the game on it's head a wicked cross from the left, fell in the box for Miles Fenton to grab his second of the game. A long ball from defence saw Jamie Green through on goal, with the crowd willing Green to shoot rather unselfishly Green squared the ball across goal to the on rushing Connor Cooper who finished into the empty net, marking a spectacular turnaround, with two minutes remaining could Albion go one better and go onto win the game. The referee signalled that we were into two minutes of added time with all the pressure now coming from Albion a Connor Cooper cutback fell to Callum Collinson in the box who's shot squirmed under the Cheadle keeper into the net to mark jubilant scenes on the pitch and on the touchline 4-3 to Wilmslow the score now read, Collinson's winning goal coming against his old team. The referee then started play and blew his whistle to end the match a great performance and turnaround from Wilmslow Albion to get them of to a winning start in the Concorde Trophy, with Cheadle Heath Nomads, Poynton & Stockport Georgians left to play in the Trophy, Albion are hopeful of going one better than last year where we finished second on goal difference to Cheadle Town.

Wilmslow Albion Reserves hosted Eagle Sports Reserves from Warrington at Oakwood Farm, having gone 1-0 down to a very early goal our visitors then doubled their lead to make it 2-0, before half time some wonderful work from the right saw the ball fizzed across goal for Daniel Aymes to fire into the roof of the net to make it 2-1 at half time. In the second half a shot from the edge of the box took a wicked deflection leaving the Eagle Sports goalkeeper helpless as it hit the back of the net 2-2 now could the Reserves do as the first team had done and manage to come from behind to win? Danny Hargreaves produced some clever footwork in the box before being fouled by an opposition player. Hargreaves dusted himself down to take the penalty and sent the keeper the wrong way to make it 3-2 to Albion, this was how the score would stay. A great day from both teams and two wonderful comebacks.

Next Saturday the First team travel to Cheadle Heath Nomads in the Concorde Trophy 2.30pm kickoff, whilst the Reserves host West Didsbury AFC at Oakwood Farm 11.30am kickoff.
