Join the Scarecrow Parade

The colourful, noisy and traffic stopping Scarecrow Parade will take place in the town centre on Saturday, June 30th.

Led by the Fianna Phadraig pipe band, the parade will set off from the car park near the library at 11am and march down the access road between Sainsbury's and the Coach and Four before turning right along the service road past the front of the shops.

Children and others wanting to join the parade should assemble at the library from 10am where small scarecrows sponsored by local businesses, will be handed out on a first come first served basis.

The band will pause whilst the town crier welcomes the children and others to the parade before proceeding along the road and crossing over to march down Grove Street on to Bank Square. The band, who have decided to donate their fee for the event to the Marie Curie Charity in memory of a recently deceased band member, will leave Bank Square at 1pm and return to Sainsbury's by the same route.

See our gallery above for a selection of this year's scarecrows which have been created by local businesses, schools and groups. The winners of the school and youth groups competition and business and adult groups the competition will be announced at the Wilmslow Show on Sunday 8th July - with both receiving a £100 to be donated to a charity of their choice.

Children with the small scarecrows can get free access to Wilmslow Show, and, if they go to the Rotary stand, will be given a free Lego kit.
