The Ryleys School is celebrating a plethora of wins at this year's Alderley Edge Festival. A record number of 42 children took part in this year's music and speech and drama categories, including the school's Chamber Choir and Junior Choir.

Within the Music Category, five children were awarded first place including: Tav H, 1st for Brass, Grades 2 and 3, Oscar F, 1st for woodwind prep test and Grade 1, Matthew B, 1st for piano Years 1 and 2 and Isobel N, 1st for piano prep test. Some of these categories had up to 18 children within them so this is an outstanding achievement.

Furthermore, 14 children were placed 2nd in their music categories, including Tav H who went on to be selected to play at the Saturday evening's gala dinner, playing the cornet. Tav has now been selected two years in a row.

In the choir category, The Ryleys School Chamber Choir came a commendable 2nd and the Junior Choir was placed 3rd.

The Ryleys equally had fantastic results in the Speech and Drama section of the festival, picking up a number of 2nd and 3rdplaces for Dramatised Verse, Duologue Drama and Verse Speaking. In Year 1, Dara R and Roman A picked up 2nd and 3rd places respectively for their Verse Speaking. Francesca C and Isobel N were also awarded 3rd place in the Duolague Drama. 2nd place was also awarded to Isobel N, Theo G, Jack D, Harry H and Zac F for Dramatised Verse.

This year a number of Reception children entered for the first time and although the category is not marked, the adjudicator said that the children all gave "convincing performances both technically and artistically."

Headteacher, Mrs Julia Langford, said: "We are incredibly proud of all our pupils who have performed so beautifully and represented the school to such a high level. I have been fortunate enough to enjoy many of the performances this week and have been bowled over by the exceptional standard. A huge thanks must be given to the children's teachers and parents who provide unwavering support. A great team effort!"
