The Stanneyland's Hotel has been acquired by JW Lees, owners of 36 pubs, inns and hotels including the Alderley Edge Hotel and Plough and Flail.
The family brewery company has bought the boutique hotel from The Mere Group who purchased it for £4.15m in December 2015, after The Stanneyland's previous owners Prima Hotels went into administration in May 2015.
The Stanneylands re-opened in April 2017 following a £1.7m refurbishment with 52 re-designed guest rooms and two new dining venues.
JW Lees has also acquired The Boddington Arms in Samlesbury Lancashire from Greene King plc.
William Lees-Jones, JW Lees Managing Director, said, "These two acquisitions follow our strategy of investing in quality pub and hotel businesses in the North West; between them they add 72 more bedrooms to our managed business, taking our bedroom numbers to 287 rooms under company management. Both hotels have substantial food and beverage businesses which we can add value to with the JW Lees offering.
"We will immediately integrate the Stanneyland's Hotel into the JW Lees hotels business, while we have closed the Boddington Arms for a complete £1m+ refurbishment to re-open in April."

I wonder if JW Lees have plans to put in publicly accessible recreation & leisure facilities that residents could also easily get to (on foot) ?
