Pupils rise to the bake off challenge

Local school children were invited to take part in a Wilmslow Bake Off competition as part of this year's Food & Drink Week.

Schools were each asked to run an internal competition asking children to design and make their own cake. Winners were then chosen to represent to The Wilmslow Academy, Lacey Green Primary, Wilmslow High School and Alderley Edge Community Primary School in the Bake Off final which took place on Saturday, 29th April.

Sally Stubbs told wilmslow.co.uk "It was a show stopper challenge, the bigger the better and our young bakers took on the challenge with delight baking beautifully decorated cakes which even Mary Berry would praise!"

Joshua who has just turned 11 years old from The Wilmslow Academy was awarded 1st prize for his ice cream cone cake which seemed to defy gravity!

Whilst second place went to Abigail Beton from Wilmslow High School and join third were Kieran Kelly and Larney Windram both from Alderley Edge Community Primary School.

Following the competition, Joshua showed his generosity by quickly cutting into his cake to give all of the contestants, parents and judges a slice to enjoy.
