Thieves use sledgehammer to steal clothes worth £10,000

An independent children's boutique which opened on Alderley Road seven months ago has been targeted by thieves who stole an estimated £10,000 worth of stock.

Offenders gained entry by smashing the back door of Milkshake Boutique with a sledgehammer in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 10th November.

The alarm went off at 12.40am but they had scarpered by the time the police arrived at the scene.

Co-owner Victoria Nichols told wilmslow.co.uk "They managed to take stock from Kenzo, Chloe, Ralph Lauren and Fendi. This stock was situated in the back area on a racking system. Fortunately they didn't manage to get into the actual shop floor so we were able to open today as usual. They left our computer so I think they knew exactly what they wanted.

"We were due to launch our website at 10am today so unfortunately have had to delay this until we can assess what stock they took. This will also impact on our sales massively as we are approaching our busiest period in retail with Christmas coming up without that stock now."

Victoria added "As well as already having shutters on the front of the shop and CCTV in store we are increasing security to prevent any further incidents, including shutters on the back door."

Anyone with information about this incident can contact Cheshire Police on 101. Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
