Another souperday raises over £1000

Wilmslow Wells for Africa held another very successful souperday on Thursday 3rd November raising £1080 and over £200 from the sale of Christmas cards.

Volunteers were joined at at St John's Church by members of Lindow Explorers.

Jenny Gibbs, Chair of Wilmslow Wells said "We were very pleased to have the extra pairs of hands to help us on the day raise more funds for the work of Wilmslow Wells for Africa.

New proposals for projects come to us throughout the year and after careful consideration, especially how a project would be validated, funding may be offered. In the next few weeks a borehole in Ramogo, Burkina Faso will be drilled. WWfA has funded this project at the cost of over £6,000 but over 3000 people will be given the resource of clean water. So each bowl of soup would have paid for two people in that project to have clean, more reliable water.

"So many thanks to all who support our events, many who have done so faithfully for numerous years. However these events would not happen without the many volunteers that make them possible, so also many thanks to old hands and new hands alike."

Robert McCullagh has been out 7 times with different teams and will be going again in November to help progress the work, which this time will include building a new well in Ramogo, Burkina Faso sponsored by Wilmslow Wells for Africa.
