Work to install public toilets in the town park should commence in the next couple of weeks.
Speaking at the Town Council meeting on Monday, 19th September, Councillor Angela McPake said "The good news is the building is nearly ready, the bad news is even when the building is in place it is still going to be 4 weeks from that moment as a minimum for when we can actually get services laid on, as they won't actually take an order for services until the building is in place so it is a bit of a chicken and egg situation.
"It's progressing but it is slower than we would like."
Wilmslow Town Council were hoping for the toilets to be open for October half term but this is looking unlikely. However they confirmed that the toilets will definitely be open by the close of the year.
Regarding the letting of the kiosk, the Town Council is going to appoint a local agent who specialises in commercial property and knows what the property should generate in terms of rent. They will then be inviting informal tenders from interested parties.
Councillor Angela McPake added "We need to find someone who is right for the town and right for the venue."
The intention is for the toilets and kiosk to be open from 8am to 6pm daily, they will be monitored by CCTV and there will be a 20p charge for using the toilets to fund the ongoing cleaning and maintenance.
