A charity has applied to change the use of a premises in Handforth to enable them to create a permanent base in the village.

The Time Out Group has submitted an application for a change of use for Unit 25 at The Paddock from A1 (Shops) to D1 (Non-Residential Institutions).

The property has been vacant for over 12 months and is understood to have previously been a beauty salon.

Time Out Group is a supported social and leisure group for adults with learning disabilities living in the North West area. They currently have one group that meets in the Wilmslow area and one that meets in the Macclesfield area.

The group gets together once a week for sporting activities, twice a month for other social activities and sometimes organise day trips and short breaks.

The proposed opening hours for the new centre are 7pm to 9.30pm Monday to Friday and 12noon until 4pm on Saturdays.

Much rather have something useful like this than a closed unit or another charity shop!
