A group of local residents are calling for the speed limit to be enforced on Manchester Road.
Neighbours have set up a petition requesting that Cheshire East Council implements the speed limit of 30 mph on the stretch of Manchester Road between Styal Road and Mill Street.
This hill into Wilmslow is preceded by a long stretch of road between Handforth and Styal Road where the speed limit is 40mph and local residents say that very few drivers observe the speed reduction.
Local resident Marina told wilmslow.co.uk "The situation on the stretch of Manchester Road in Wilmslow between Styal Road and Mill Street is getting ridiculous and dangerous, particularly at weekends where many high performance cars drive at high speeds up and down this stretch of road numerous times."
She added "Other neighbours with children attending local schools are concerned for their children's safety when walking up and down the road when going to school and feel unsafe at weekends when so many speeding cars are driving up and down this stretch of road."

I completely agree that the 30mph limit needs to be highlighted / enforced in some way. The stretch of road in question narrows significantly after the Styal road junction and also has quite a bend. As a resident it is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous to exit our driveway/ cross the road on foot, as cars travel at speeds well in excess of the 30mph.
