The Summer Serenade series at St Bartholomew's Church continues on Sunday, 10th July, with renowned recorder player John Turner and friends, presenting 'A British Brantub'.

John has played and broadcast as recorder soloist with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, the Academy of Ancient Music, the English Chamber Orchestra and the English Baroque Soloists, amongst other leading chamber orchestras.

Philip Underwood, organist and director of music at the church, said "Expect poetry, nursery rhymes and virtuoso recorder playing in this fun programme of music by British composers, including Benjamin Britten, John Ireland and contemporary composers whose works will be performed for the first time at this recital."

As usual, the recital begins at 3pm and will be followed by afternoon tea. There is no admission charge but a collection will be taken after each recital with all proceeds going to the 'Oscar the Organ' Appeal.

Last year's Summer Serenades were a great success, raising £2000 for the Organ Appeal.
