A Wilmslow PCSO will walk the length of Hadrian's Wall in 48 hours to raise funds for local charity, Time Out Group.

PCSO Jim Newns, who covers Lacey Green, will be joined by his friend Simon Hampson to walk the 84 mile path on the 25th and 26th of June. The funds raised by Jim and Simon will be used towards organising an enriching and enjoyable holiday for Time Out Group members in the summer of 2017.

They came up with the idea when holidaying together with their families in Cumbria.

PCSO Jim Newns explained ""Walking the wall has been an ambition of mine for a number of years. Simon suggested we could attempt to walk it in two days as we both enjoy keeping fit and physical challenges. We naturally thought this would be a good opportunity to raise funds for Time Out Group. We are in the process of getting in the necessary training needed for a long distance walk that will include a number of 25 mile walks in preparation."

Time Out Group members, meanwhile, are considering how they might support the walk more locally (although 84 miles would be pushing it!) and have decided to do a sponsored walk in June.

Long term member Clive says "It's great what Jim and Simon are doing for us and hopefully the money raised will help pay for our summer holiday. We all went to a cottage in Wales last year and had great fun and have many lovely memories, and we would all love to do something like that again."

Clive has already raised £50 in sponsorship for the members' sponsored walk on 8th June.

If you would like to support Jim and Simon's endeavour donations can be made online.
