Extra time for football story competition

Budding authors have been granted extra time to pen a football story which could be made into a book.

Wilmslow Library, in conjunction with Wilmslow Football Academy, has launched the competition inviting children to write a short football story of between 700 and 800 words which must include some exciting footie action.

Children in school years 3 to 6 now have until Saturday, 7th May to turn their ideas into an exciting action-packed football story.

The winning entry will be illustrated, made into a book and presented by a very special guest of honour. The presentation will take place at a ceremony at Wilmslow Library this autumn and all profits from the sale of the book will help to buy more life-saving defibrillators.

Librarian Marg Charlesworth said "Everyone who enters the competition will have a chance to win a pair of tickets to the presentation and we would love as many schools as possible to be represented."

Download an entry form and terms and conditions or pick up a copy from Handforth, Wilmslow or Alderley Edge libraries.

The closing date for entries is now 1pm on Saturday 7th May.
