A Wilmslow sports club has submitted revised plans for a new club house because the existing facilities are unfit for purpose.

Croftside Tennis Club on Meadow Way were granted planning permission (reference 14/4442M) for or the demolition of the existing timber club house and construction of a new club house in January 2015.

The original approved scheme was to be designed in a modular manner however, after further research, the club has decided they would prefer to construct the new club house in a more traditional way as they feel it will have better longevity.

The Croftside Tennis Club was formed in the 1930s and currently has 200 members. Following consultation with their members and community partners about the future direction of the club, to ensure membership is maintained, the feedback confirmed an urgent need to upgrade the club house facilities.

At the moment the club house lacks toilet and changing facilities, is subsiding so the internal floor and roof are becoming more uneven, has an inadequate food preparation area and there is no space for kitchen facilities. Additionally it is inaccessible to disabled people.

The new design addresses all these issues, with ramped level access, improved accessibility within the club house and a disabled toilet and changing facility. It will be sited almost on the same area as the existing building to minimise any impact on the neighbours.

The planning application can be viewed on Cheshire East Council's website by searching for planning reference 16/1757M. The last date for submitting comments is May 18th and a decision is expected by 9th June.
