Conservatives continue to dominate Wilmslow Town Council

vote

Conservative candidates have taken 14 of the 15 seats on Wilmslow Town Council.

All the existing councillors who stood in this week's election retained their seat with the exception of Ruth McNulty who missed out on the 4th seat in the Wilmslow East Ward by 46 votes to her daughter Fiona.

Residents of Wilmslow candidate Dave Jefferay, who was elected to the Town Council in November 2014, not only retained his seat but won the most votes in the Wilmslow East Ward. He is now the only non Conservative on Wilmslow Town Council.

One of the wards was uncontested so elections only took place in Wilmslow East, Lacey Green and Wilmslow West.

The results were:

• Joan Fitzgerald, Conservative Party - 1019 votes

• David Jefferay, Residents of Wilmslow - 1362 votes

Firstly, thank you to everyone who voted for me. I obviously intend to work hard with my fellow councillors, on your behalf, to make sure Wilmslow is a great place to live. Hopefully your faith will not have been misplaced!

I am sorry to loose Ruth- she has worked tirelessly during her time on WTC for the residents of Wilmslow and was looking forward to working with her.

Thank you David for your good wishes. It was nice to meet you at the count- I look forward to working with you.

I also thank all people who voted, especially to my 'supporters'. I congratulate all returning and new Councillors elected to WTC, and remind all they have 4 years to make good their stated intentions and hopefully vote as individuals, not Party members, for the good of the local Community.
I invite any Wilmslow voter/pot candidate to join me on the public seats at future WTC Council & Committee meetings to question/comment that body on any Agenda item.
Agenda's should be published on WTC website 3 days prior to meeting with Minutes available soon after their formal approval.

I would like to thank all those who voted for me and to assure all residents of Wilmslow West that I will continue to work tirelessly, with my fellow councillors, to make sure that Wilmslow remains a great place to live.
Like Angela I am very sorry that Ruth was not reelected as she made a huge contribution to the town during her 4 years on the Council
