Despite the stormy weather, crowds gathered at The Paddock on Saturday, 25th April, to enjoy a popular community event which raised over £600 for the Handforth War Memorial Fund and over £150 for Hampers of Hope.
Free attractions at the Handforth Paddock Fair included Punch and Judy shows, owls and character appearances. There were also stalls, children's activities and hundreds of people had train rides in the park.
Amongst the visitors were MP George Osborne and the Mayor and Mayoress of Cheshire East, Wesley and Joan Fitzgerald.
Organiser Kerry Burgess said "The event is a community investment event which is designed to bring the community together, an affordable day out for families, an opportunity for local traders, local performers, organisations and charities and remind people that local businesses are the heartbeat of our towns. Events like these put towns on the map."
Anthony Harrison, Chair of the Handforth Community War Memorial Foundation, said "Thank you to everyone who both attended and donated to Handforth Community War Memorial Foundation at Handforth Paddock Fair. We managed to raise £660.80 through the tombola, raffle and through the great work of 23 ACF Detachment, who went around on the day with collection tins."
