Improvements to Lacey Green Park given the go ahead

Major improvements for Lacey Green Park have been approved, which will include a new play area for babies, toddlers and juniors as well as a a Multi Use Games Arena (MUGA).

The play area will be funded from Cheshire East Council's Section 106 monies. Whilst the MUGA, which will include a skate and scooter play area, has been funded by WREN, a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, conservation and heritage projects.

Stuart Ogden, Friends of Lacey Green Park Chairman, said "The Friends of Lacey Green Park are thrilled to have agreed such vital renovations to Lacey Green Park. It's the culmination of a lot of hard work that has been ongoing behind the scenes during our first year as a Friends organisation.

"We hope the community of Lacey Green will benefit significantly from the improved facilities and the local children can grow up with a park that has been created by them, for them. Also, that these improvements act as a catalyst for other like minded people within Lacey Green to get involved and make a difference in their community.

"We'd like to thank Cheshire East, especially Marianne Hodgekinson, for her ongoing guidance and to Wren for the grant to implement the MUGA."

Work on the improvements is expected to start in late May and be completed by the school holidays.
